Carrie and Patrick… Where do I even begin?

We knew going into the wedding that Carrie had quite the following on the DisBoards Wedding Forum. We knew because even before we’d photographed her wedding, we were getting inquiries for upcoming Disney weddings. While in today’s day and age, you make one wrong step at a wedding and it can be shared online for the world to see, this wedding brought a whole new pressure because Carrie already had an audience waiting to hear her review of us! I’ve still never read her wedding trip report, but I assume she was pretty happy with us- Not only because a huge portion of our bookings can be directed back to her in some way, but because she still brings us around to photograph moments in her and Patrick’s life! :)

Carrie is truly loved and adored by our brides. I’ll never forget doing a session with a bride who found us through Carrie, and she described Carrie as the “Patron Saint of Disney brides.” People are always stopping her in the park to say hello. When Disney brides meet us for the first time, it’s not uncommon for their first words to be “Is Carrie as amazing in person as she is online? Is Patrick just hilarious?!” Yes and you have no idea. :)

We hear all the time that Carrie is the reason so many of our couples get married at Walt Disney World- most often because she shows them that they can have incredibly unique and memorable weddings for under the US national average.

Six years after their wedding day, Nate and I are so lucky to call Carrie and Patrick our friends. It’s so crazy looking back at photos from their wedding day; between how we’ve changed our shooting style (you could make a drinking game out of how many times we tilted the camera at our early weddings!) and our editing style (I may have re-processed most of the photos in this post to reflect our style today), it was fun to see how far we’ve come photographically. I love that when we took these photos, we were shooting our first Disney wedding for a nice couple that booked us. Now? I see two dear friends on the happiest day of their lives. I don’t see photos of random guests, I see Sean and Victoria before they brought Buddy into the world. I see my friend looking absolutely stunning as a bride. I tear up at every photo of Carrie with her late father.

Carrie and Patrick, we love you. :)

  1. Ok – guilty as charged. We are absolutely one of those couples that booked you guys because of these two (and Carly & Kyle!) But I so wouldn’t have it any other way!!

  3. We are on the long list of folks that found you all through Carrie – her wedding planning and trip report got me through months upon months of nighttime feedings with Jackson!

  5. YOU GUYS!!! You are too, too kind! This is the sweetest post ever. And, boy, am I gonna keep it in my back pocket for those low-self-esteem days!

Jensey, since you’ve never had the approximately 56 spare hours it takes to slog through my ginormous trip report, let me pull out the salient points from the wedding morning: “When I got in the elevator with Nathan & Jensey I felt overwhelmingly glad to have them there. I’d only met them a few times, but it felt like having two friends to send me off on my big adventure (or, as Nathan joked, two ‘paid friends’!).”

And now we have two REAL friends! Getting to know you and Nate was the second best thing to come out of my wedding besides marrying Patrick. We’ve had so many fun adventures together since then, and I can’t wait to embark on the next one!

  7. I am another one of the Carrie brides! (That sounds so Stephen King-ish!!) I am so glad that I had the Roots do my wedding pictures – they’re so beautiful these 5 years later. I especially love the pictures of me and my dad (who passed away in 2012). If the house is on fire – I’m grabbing my dogs, my husband and my Root pictures! :o) Hey Jensey and Nate – how about anniversary pictures this year? :o)

  9. AW! I have a snap from this (okay, TWO) of them on my wall. I still chuckle over Sean’s toast. It was amazing.

And I WILL have a event that you two will be the photographers for. I MUST! It’s been on my list since I saw the first snap at Carrie and Patrick’s wedding.

The part where we become best pals and best-selling international travel experts in in my mind.

  11. I am coming out of lurkydom to write this :) Even though I’m not a Disney bride I have followed Carrie for years, which led me to you guys! LOVE looking at your pictures and seeing how you have grown over the years. One day I may even book a family session when you are in the Disney area. I am so excited that you now have a Disney blog!

  17. I’ve read Carrie’s recap and she’s totally complimentary to you guys don’t worry! :) It was great to re-live their wedding again through your post today and I did note a little difference between the images here and the images in her original recap. I hope you have more fun shoots together in the future! :D

  19. Love it!! It was interesting to see some of the reprocessed photos. I was looking for the fuzzy brownish tones on some of them and then realized that I’m a complete stalker because I probably know Carrie’s wedding photos better than she does.

And that last photo! All y’all look like babies!!
